Wentong Potassium Salt Group Co., Ltd. a well-known enterpris in China's inorganic chemical industry potash industry, is Vice President Unit of China Inorganic Salt Industry Association (CISIA) and Executive President Unit of CISIA Potash fertilizer industry branch. The independently developed "ion-exchange ” potassium nitrate production method won the first prize of Shanxi Province  "Science and Technology Progress Award", which also made up the domestic blank. In 2001, Wentong Group strategically moved to Shanghai, making full use of the advantages of metropolis’s information, talents, finance and market, which took a great leap of market share year after year.

In 2003, Wentong Group realized alliance with China’s largest producer of potassium chloride- Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Group Co., Ltd. Successively the group built Qinghai Salt Lake Yuan Tong Potash Co., Ltd. and Qinghai Wentong Yanqiao Fertilizer Co., Ltd., a factory focusing on potassium nitrate, potassium chloride and high-grade water-soluble compound fertilizer products.

In 2006,Wentong continued to deepen strategic cooperation with Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Group Co., Ltd., implemented projects of 600,000 tons of potassium chloride and 400,000 tons of agricultural grade potassium nitrate in Qinghai and forming a projects group centered on potassium chloride resources. The project went into full operation in 2010.

In 2014, Wentong Group, together with Inner Mongolia Tianyu Huijing Group and Qinghai Wentong Salt Bridge Fertilizer Co., Ltd. jointly established Inner Mongolia Tonghui Potash Co., Ltd., which mainly engaged in the R&D and production of “Triple New Products”（new fertilizer，new energy, new materials）.The business scope covered six sectors: fine potash fertilizer, new fertilizer, modern logistics, new energy, new materials, commercial circulation and agricultural planting. Inner Mongolia Tonghui Potash Co., Ltd. is capable of producing 800,000 tons chemicals annually, which includes 60,000MT granular potassium fertilizer, 30,000 MT nitric acid, 37,500 MT liquid ammonium nitrate, 200,000MT microbial compound fertilizer, 50,000MT microbial organic & inorganic compound fertilizers, 30,000 MT microbial water soluble fertilizer, 20,000MT isooctyl nitrate, 100,000MT 100% soluble potassium sulphate, 100,000MT high-chloride potassium fertilizer and 100,000MT fine potassium chloride. In 2018 the supporting special railway line will be completed.
