Potassium hydroxide

	Potassium hydroxide

Potassium hydroxide (chemical formula: KOH, formula weight: 56.1) white sheet solid. Melting point 380 ℃, boiling point 1324 ℃, the relative density  2.04 g/cm3. It is easy to absorb moisture in the air and deliquescence and turn into potassium carbonate when absorbing carbon dioxide. Dissolved in water, alcohol or acid will release heat. Dissolved in ethanol and slightly soluble in ether. It has strong alkalinity and corrosiveness, and its properties are similar to those of caustic soda..

Applications:
1. It is used as desiccant and absorbent for making oxalic acid and various sylvite salts, and also for electroplating, engraving, lithography and so on.
2, mainly used as raw materials for potash salt production, such as Potassium Permanganate, potassium carbonate and so on. In the pharmaceutical industry, it used to product potassium borohydride ,Spironolactone, Hepatol, testosterone propionate.  In light industry, it is used to produce potassium soap, alkaline storage battery and cosmetics (such as cold cream, snow cream and shampoo). In the dyestuff industry, it is used to produce vat dyes, such as vat blue RSN, etc. In electrochemistry industry, it is used for electroplating, carving and so on. In the textile industry, it is used for printing, dyeing, bleaching and mercerizing and is widely used as the main raw material for the manufacture of synthetic fibers and polyester fibers. In addition, it is also used in metallurgical heating agents and leather degreasing.
3, chemical raw materials, for medicine, daily chemical industry.
4, used as analytical reagent, saponification reagent, carbon dioxide and moisture absorbent.
5, in daily chemical industry , it is used as raw materials for making soap, shampoo soft soap, snow cream, cold cream, shampoo cream and so on. In pharmaceutical industry, it is used to manufacture progesterone, vanillin and other raw materials. In dye industry, it is used in the manufacture of melamine dyes. In battery industry, it is used in the manufacture of alkaline batteries.

Storage:
store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The best humidity in the library is not more than 85%. The packing must be sealed and not dampened. It should be stored separately from (or) combustible substances and acids. The storage area should be equipped with appropriate material collection and leakage.
