Potassium carbonate dense form

Potassium carbonate dense form

It is soluble in water, the aqueous solution is alkaline; insoluble in ethanol, acetone and ether. Due to strong hygroscopicity, it absorb carbon dioxide and moisture when exposed to the air and then converted into potassium bicarbonate. Therefore it should store in sealed package to avoid denaturation. The hydrate product includes Monohydrate, dehydrate and trihydrate.

Normally Potassium carbonate has anhydrous substances or crystals containing 1.5 molecules. Anhydrous salt is white granular powder, crystal product is white translucent small crystals or grains, odorless but with strong alkali flavor. Its relative density 2.428 (19 ℃), melting point 891 ℃.

Production process:
Electrolysis method: the solution of potassium hydroxide is obtained by electrolysis of potassium chloride, when carbonized with carbon dioxide in the carbonization tower, we obtain potassium bicarbonate. After evaporation, filtration and calcination, we will get potassium carbonate.

Applications:
It is mainly used for analysis of reagents. Such as high purity analysis, emission spectrum analysis, etc. It can also be used as a melting agent for silicate and insoluble sulfates, a water absorbent for organic liquids, and in the fields of electroplating, fertilizer and photography.

It is applied in glass, printing and dyeing, soap, enamel, preparing potassium salt, synthetic ammonia decarbonylation, color television industry, leavening agent in food area; as a gas adsorbent, dry powder extinguishing agent, rubber antiaging agent, etc. Used for washing and processing of exposed photosensitive materials.

It is used in the manufacture of glass case of image tube in electronic industry, decarbonization of chemical fertilizer, and production of potassium salt. Used for the analysis of reagents, reference reagents and melting of silicates and insoluble sulfates.

Used as desiccant in chemical experiments, and form potassium carbonate (K2CO3•2H2O) with two crystal water, but with medium water absorption capacity, its action with water is slow. Therefore it is suitable for drying alcohols, esters and other neutral organics as well as basic organic compounds such as amines and alkaloids, but cannot used as desiccant for acids, phenols or other acids.

Attentions:
The packing should be complete and saft before delivery. Please be assured the packing no leak, collapse, fall or damage during transportation. It is strictly prohibited to be mixed with oxidizer, acid, food chemicals, etc. Transport should be protected from exposure, rain, high temperature. The vehicles should be thoroughly cleaned after transportation.
